Alex received his J.D. from the University of British Columbia in 2018. He joined Arvay Finlay after articling with the federal Department of Justice and clerking for five justices of the British Columbia Supreme Court.

Alex’s primary practice areas include administrative and constitutional law, environmental law, and Indigenous and Aboriginal law. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court and the Tax Court of Canada.

As a law student, Alex volunteered as a student clinician at the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and the UBC Indigenous Community Legal Clinic. He also worked as a student researcher at West Coast Environmental Law, developing tools for the enforcement of Indigenous law on the central and north coast of British Columbia.

On graduating, Alex received the Law Society Gold Medal for the highest cumulative GPA in his year.

Alex holds a B.A. in Classics from Mount Allison University, and an M.A. in Ancient History from the University of Toronto, where he wrote his thesis on the environmental history of Roman Egypt. In his spare time, he maintains a keen interest in books, travel, and being in nature.

Alex is called to the Bar in both British Columbia and Yukon.
